My First Laser Printer

Tuesday, January 21st, 2003 · No Comments

Today I bought my first laser printer. Folks have often asked me why I, someone who loves technology like I do and who prides himself on having all the latest gadgets, don’t have a printer. Well, I’m also cheap when it comes to things like that. I’ve always had access to laser printers at work, so what’s the point of having one at home?

Sure, in college I had the good ol’ Apple StyleWriter 1200, which I gave away last year (before the last move). But even then I had easy access to a laser printer at my place of employment, the Vassar Computer Store.

Of course, I’ve always thought it would be super convenient to have a printer at home, but I’m not into inkjets, which is what most people have. And I’ve never really wanted to fork out the couple hundred or so for a laser printer.

And so, at last, this cheapskate technologist has purchased something that has met both his needs: The HP LaserJet 6L printer. And what did I pay for it? A whopping 15 bucks. Not too shabby, eh?
