French Fries Get New Name in Congress
This is so ridiculous I’ve categorized it as comedy. It’s like a 4th-grader saying, “Oh yeah, well my Daddy makes more money than your Daddy.” Can’t you just picture these Stupid White Men sitting on Capitol Hill saying, “I know: We’ll rename French fries and French toast. That’ll teach the French to mess with us and not do what we tell them to do!”
While they’re at it, why don’t they drop the name “hamburger,” too? I mean, come on, guys. Let’s be fair. Schroeder wants a peaceful solution, too.
(Thanks, Shannon, for the link.)

Completely agree probably the stupidest thing ever but arent you being contradictory by continuing to refer to them as “stupid white man”?
A bunch of “lefties” sitting somewhere, Yeah, we’ll teach those pigs a lesson and we’ll call them stupid white men from now on..
Gabe, c’mon now. We can do better than that.

They don’t represent me and my opinion as a voting citizen of this country, so I’m certainly not going to call them “representatives.” That’s a bit contradictory. What else should I call them? I refer to our leaders and lawmakers as Stupid White Men because I believe that’s exactly what they are. I express my disapproval by writing about it here, going to protests, and writing to and calling elected officials.

P.S. Have you read Michael Moore’s book yet, Jose Luis? Perhaps you wouldn’t be so offended every time I used the phrase “Stupid White Men” if you understood the context. What about the phrase bothers you? Do you think I’m being racist in using the phrase?

Hey, no one said anything about you expressing your opinion or discontent. I just brought up the fact you are inconsistent in your arguments regarding 4th grade level type name calling

No I didn’t read the book Gabe but I saw the guy promoting his book all over T.V, Donahue, sixty minutes etc.. To be honest I really didn’t share his views or buy his arguments.
And nah I don’t get offended, I know its not about racism, and second I just like to play devils advocate- although I think I have a point.

I think “leaders” would be preferable. I’d have to think for a while to think of a generally-desired name. “Stupid White Males” not only assumes that they are all stupid, but it assumes they’re all male.
So, I do agree with Jose. Maybe “Elected Officials” would be better, since the majority of them are just that. (Just because some people elected them doesn’t mean that we voted for them or that we agree with the result.)

“but it assumes they’re all male” – yo dave- have you watched c-span lately?? of course they’re all men! sure, there’s a token black man and the occasional woman here and there, but i’d bet that 80-90% of the people who make the laws in our country are white men. and most of them are idiotic. so i’m sticking to my label: Stupid White Men. it’s more of a title anyway, and only partially a descriptor. see my earlier comment on this topic for more.

Nah. Never watch C-Span.
According to a document on:
http://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/RS20760.pdf
The 107th Congress has 75 female members, 21 Hispanic, 39 African-American, 9 Asian or native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and 3 Native Americans. I figure that the number of non-White Men are probably around 20% or more, and that number is surely growing.

good research, dave. i don’t blame you for not watching a lot of c-span. 🙂
so based on these numbers, that’s 27% non-white men — which means that 73% of the people making laws for our country are white men (just a tad below my initial 80-90% estimate).
wow. i’ll just say that i’m glad to be from America’s Most Diverse City (according to Time magazine) and to live currently in a city where whites are the minority (49% white population in san francisco). now if only i could do something about the place where i work (marin) where 84% of the population is white! ick. talk about NO DIVERSITY!
