Project for the New American Century

Friday, March 28th, 2003 · 3 Comments

Someone named Robert Grimes has replied to my recent post about Herman Goering’s quote. I’m not sure what his point is, but here’s my rebuttal. What do you think?

While we’re on the topic of scary rhetoric that’s force-fed to the American public by the Bush administration, take a look at the Project for the New American Century whose members include Cheney, Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, and Paul Wolfowitz. Their Statement of Principles includes this text:

“Such a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity may not be fashionable today. But it is necessary if the United States is to build on the successes of this past century and to ensure our security and our greatness in the next.”

Yeah, world domination by America! Here we come! Let’s mow down anyone who gets in our way. Watch out, Iran and North Korea, you’re next.

I guess the real issue is whether to dominate or be dominated. Personally I prefer the first.

    I think I made my thoughts well-phrased under Robert’s note. 🙂

My position in general: I can only sit back and hope the government is doing the right thing. (Not necessarily the best position in some respects, but I honestly fail to believe I have any real say in the matter.)

I noticed tonight (10 Jul 2003) that the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) website is suddenly not accessible. Do you have any information about whether or not the site has been removed?
