Curious indeed. Not being a windows person, I can’t verify this, but it looks like something that is, or will be, incorporated into an Internet Explorer side bar of some sort.

Anyone who has used Google’s search for Internet Explorer has seen this. It is what shows up in the sidebar.

Not exactly, Mark. I use IE every day – and even have the Google Toolbar installed in IE – but never before today had I seen this Mini Google interface.

It’s not a Mini Google.
As Mark suggested it’s what comes up in the search sidebar if you install google as you default search engine. It’s got nothing to do with the toolbar.
The name should give it away. i.e. the ie at the end. (make sense?)
