iPod, Nike+, Dave Running Challenge

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 · Comments Off on iPod, Nike+, Dave Running Challenge

I have lots to write about — including my rockin’ vacation last week to San Francisco and Sacramento, and the fact that I’m now officially registered with Team in Training for the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego (more on both those updates later this week)! — but first: It’s time for yet another […]

The Relaunch of gabeanderson.com

Thursday, January 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

So after more than a year hiatus, I relaunched a blog on my old domain! It took some time to reflect on what I wanted to do with my old domain, but I’ve finally found a purpose for it: gabeanderson.com 6.0: technology edition. It’s like the old gabeanderson.com but without the life and politics components […]

Geni Family Tree

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’ve always wanted to map out my family tree, but have never found a good way to do it. Until yesterday when I read about Geni on TechCrunch. Geni rules. I signed up yesterday and added my wife, my immediate family, a good part of my extended family, and my in-laws. And this morning, my […]

15 Megabits Per Second

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007 · Comments Off on 15 Megabits Per Second

I love my Road Runner Turbo. It was upgraded last week to double the speed. I now get 15 MBPS down and 1 MBPS up. Now that’s blazingly fast. And I really notice the difference. Results from yesterday’s bandwidth speed test (New York City server): I’ve come a long way since my 2400 baud modem.

My Times Union Letter

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment

On Feb. 11, the Times Union ran this story: A quick change / High-speed Internet is transforming the Capital Region, where the economy increasingly depends on the digital world. Today they printed my response to that story: Telecommuting helps environment, business. Here’s my scan of it, too: If more people telecommuted, the world would be […]

iPhone

Due to a recent bicycle crash wherein I saved a bottle of champagne, but jacked up my cell phone display (it still works fine), I was tempted to buy the Motorola Q. And damn am I glad I didn’t! (The $80/month service cost quickly changed my mind — more than Jen and I pay combined […]

Streaming Petty

Saturday, August 12th, 2006 · Comments Off on Streaming Petty

Lately my Yahoo Music station has been playing a lot of Tom Petty. I think it was a sign of the good fortune we had yesterday: Jen won some awesome orchestra tickets from her company for us to go to tomorrow’s sold-out Petty show at SPAC! I’m psyched and can’t wait. We also went last […]

Tesla: Electric Supercar

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’ve always loved cars. There are the basic benefits they give us: The ability to efficiently and quickly move across town or across the country, to connect with friends and family, and to aid in national commerce (through trucking). Then there’s the styling and the performance side of cars that I love: The lines, the […]

SD600

Thursday, July 6th, 2006 · Comments Off on SD600

We had one of the busiest, most action-packed, non-stop weekends ever. It was non-stop go from Friday through Tuesday. In fact, I’m still too exhausted and busy recovering to take the time to write about it now. But recap and pictures will be coming soon… When you’re really psyched about something and spend a lot […]

Personalized Streaming Music

Thursday, June 15th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’ve long been a fan of Radio Paradise and probably always will be. I’ve thrown the occasional PayPal donation their way, and they’ve helped to expand my musical horizon, which, as Jen often says, is stuck in the ’90s. Our friends like Alex and Justin are much more the music aficionados than I am, and […]
